While I started out working on web design for a company called Wood Heat when I was younger, I found that the network security world is where I wanted to be at. I went off to college to begin learning as much as I could about network engineering, architecture and troubleshooting skills with a focus on the security. I was naturally moved to learn about firewalls, VPN and information security as I continued my studies and got offered a position as the network security specialist for a multi-national manufacturing company. It was in this role that I learned much of what I know today. From anti virus (with McAfee and ePolicy) and information protection to the world of email security (with Lotus Domino and Barracuda Network spam appliances) I continued to broaden my horizons on the technologies that I worked with each day.

What do you like most about your job? (01/27/2008)
At my job the best thing is change. The ability to change my "hat" each and every day. I am not someone who can sit in a cube and do the same thing day in and day out. I need to make sure that I am educating myself and others all the time. New problems hit my desk all the time and they are almost never the same issue twice. Some days I deal with email security and others it's a new facility or network location. These are all important and interesting projects to work on.
What are you most passionate about? (01/27/2008)
One of my largest passions is information security. I find it fascinating that information can pass from one person to another without a thought as to the implications that transfer can have on the person or the company that it belongs to. Protecting that information before mistakes can be had with it is a full-time job and requires constant attention.
Why did you choose this career? (01/27/2008)
This career had a natural appeal to me. I have always been a person who loved to take on new challenges all the time and learn new technologies each day. When I was only 8 years old, I was already taking apart computers and learning how to put them together and program them to do my bidding. It only seemed natural that the next step was making sure that the computers and the people who used them were always well protected and safe from harms way.
